
On March 3rd, 2010, a group of students and teachers from St. John's Episcopal School visited the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC. The visit came as part of the students' involvement in an upcoming iteration of "Model United Nations (MUN)". The students, having chosen to represent the UAE, came to learn more about the country's history, politics, and ongoing initiatives. Model UN is a recreation of the UN General Assembly where middle and high school students step into roles of Ambassadors from UN member-states to debate current issues on the organization's agenda.
Mr. Bader Bin Saeed, Head of Media Section, and Ms. Khawla Al Mahmood, Administrative Attaché, welcomed the group and provided an overview of the UAE and US-UAE bilateral relations. The visit included a Q & A session, a video presentation about the UAE, and an episode from the UAE comedy cartoon, "Freej".
A delegation consisting of 19 professional MBA participants from the GWU Business School, led by Professor Salah Hassan, Chairman of the Marketing Department, visited the UAE Embassy on December 4th, 2009. The visit was part of the pre-travel program for GW Business School’s upcoming third international business residency visit to the UAE in January 2010. The GW students were given an overview on UAE history, politics, culture and society, and economy and business through a video presentation and briefings by Bader Bin Saeed, Head of the Media Section, and Mr. Talal Kaissi, Deputy Commercial Attaché.
Washington, DC (24 Feb 2010) - HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today met with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and numerous Congressional leaders from both the Democratic and Republican parties. In his meeting with Secretary Clinton, the Foreign Minister reaffirmed the UAE's strong ongoing support for Afghanistan-Pakistan stabilization initiatives, and for multilateral efforts toward improving security in the region.
Washington, DC (22 February 2010) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, met with US National Security Advisor General James Jones, further reinforcing the deep and productive security relationship between the UAE and the United States. The Foreign Minister and General Jones discussed how the two countries can continue to cooperate closely on regional and global security issues of mutual concern.
The agreement will increase bilateral cooperation and support development of the UAE's peaceful nuclear energy program. In Abu Dhabi, DoE Secretary Chu welcomed the collaboration "to reduce carbon pollution through the development of clean sources of energy." See Full Story.
