Washington, DC (November 24, 2011) – The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, DC hosts a three day conference from November 24 to 26 for UAE students currently enrolled at universities in the United States.

This year’s “UAE Student Forum 2011” will provide attendees the rare opportunity to network with their fellow students, connect with officials from the UAE and meet with top rated UAE public and private companies.

SHARJAH, UAE (3 November 2011) - The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) today announced plans for the establishment of the U.S.A. Regional Trade Center (USARTC), on the SCCI and Expo City complex. The announcement was made by Mr. Hussain M. Al Mahmoudi, Director General of the SCCI. The USARTC will be a public-private partnership between the Government of Sharjah and SS General Trading LLC (SSGT), a division of NSCO, with offices in Sharjah, Dubai and the United States.

JOPLIN, MISSOURI (9 August 2011) - In the wake of the May 22, 2011 catastrophic tornado that damaged and destroyed much of Joplin, Missouri, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in Washington, DC, on behalf of the people of the UAE, has pledged a significant donation to Joplin Public Schools (JPS) to assist the school district in meeting its goal to provide all enrolled high school students with laptops at the start of the 2011-12 academic year.

WASHINGTON, DC (5 July 2011) - The UAE Women's soccer team, in the midst of its first-ever visit to the United States for training and scrimmages, was formally welcomed by City officials to Philadelphia during a ceremony on Friday, July 1 at City Hall. Representatives from the Office of Mayor Michael Nutter, the Department of Legislative '&' Community Affairs and the Department of Parks '&' Recreation met with the UAE delegation, and briefed them on the history of Philadelphia and shared their views on the importance of sports and cultural exchanges.

WASHINGTON, DC (11 June 2011) - The United Arab Emirates Embassy in Washington, DC and the Philadelphia Independence announced today that they will host the UAE Women's Soccer Program for a 21-day visit to the United States this summer.

The partnership will offer a program of joint coaching and training sessions, visits to several area youth clubs and community service activities in and around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Washington, DC.

NEW YORK CITY, NY (14 May 2011) – Leonard Patrick Komon of Kenya set a new Central Park course record at the 7th UAE Healthy Kidney 10K Race.  The race, held annually in New York City, is sponsored by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, DC to benefit the National Kidney Foundation, and held in Honor of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan, first President of the United Arab Emirates and kidney transplant recipient.

WASHINGTON, DC (5 May 2011) -- The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, D.C. held a reception on Thursday to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the unification of the Armed Forces of the UAE.

Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba welcomed distinguished guests to the event alongside Military Attaché Col. Waleed al Shamsi. The event was attended by senior officers from the US and other nations’ armed forces, as well as diplomats and senior government officials.

Collaboration with TDIC in Abu Dhabi Highlights Vibrant UAE Arts Scene

Upon witnessing the hardship the Pakistani people are facing in the wake of the recent flood disaster, the UAE government and UAE foundations have rapidly mobilized to deliver food, shelter and other emergency relief supplies. In a speech to the United Nations on Friday, August 20, 2010, UAE Minister of State Reem Al Hashimi announced that the UAE has pledged $5 million to the UN’s Pakistan flood relief fund.

RALEIGH, NC (20 August 2010) - UAE students attending  US universities chose to spend their summer vacations in North Carolina with Habitat for Humanity, building affordable houses for those who lack adequate shelter.

The students, who are recipients of an Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) scholarship, traveled to North Carolina from various schools including the University of Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan State University and Penn State University.

DUBAI, UAE (8 December 2009) WAM - Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice President of Zayed University, and Dr. Barbara Moran, Dean of the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, USA, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the scientific and academic fields.

NEW YORK (14 November 2009) - 19 Washington Square North, which will serve as New York University’s gateway to its new campus in Abu Dhabi, officially opened its doors today, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony with dignitaries from the United Arab Emirates and officials from NYU and NYU Abu Dhabi.

WASHINGTON, DC (13 November 2009) - A group of senior government officials from Abu Dhabi, who are leading the Emirate's urban planning and sustainability efforts, visited Phoenix, Ariz. and Washington, DC this week to attend the Greenbuild International Conference, and meet with US government officials and other urban planning experts.  The delegation was led by HE Rashid Al Hajiri, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs.

WASHINGTON, DC (19 October 2009) – His Excellency Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States, visited the city of Chicago, Illinois recently to commemorate the newly launched Etihad Airways non-stop flight between Chicago and Abu Dhabi.  It is the first non-stop service connecting Chicago with the Arabian Gulf.

WASHINGTON, DC (16 September 2009) WAM - Children's National Medical Center today announced that it will create a new Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation, made possible by a $150 million gift from the Government of Abu Dhabi.

ABU DHABI (31 May 2009) - The UAE made rapid strides in combating human trafficking in 2008, which is reflected in the number of registered cases doubling over the previous year, according to a report released by the country's National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking.

The annual report, “Combating Human Trafficking in the UAE – 2008-09", highlights the country’s stand on the crime, efforts to counter it, progress made, obstacles encountered, and plans for the future. 

WASHINGTON, DC (21 May 2009) – HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the announcement that President Barack Obama approved the Bilateral Agreement for Peaceful Nuclear Energy Cooperation with the UAE.  The agreement, which was signed today by HE Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States (US) and US State Department officials, was then transmitted to the US Congress for its review.

WASHINGTON, DC (4 May 2009) - The 2007 donation by HH the President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Johns Hopkins Medicine, one of the largest educational, research and clinical health care institutions in the United States, was recognized at a gala event celebrating the impact of philanthropy on Johns Hopkins’ work. 

During the dinner event, Johns Hopkins officials unveiled and dedicated the “Founders Wall,” a plaque honoring all those with lifetime contributions totaling $7 million and above, including Sheikh Khalifa.

Protocol SignVIENNA (8 April 2009) WAM - The United Arab Emirates and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) today signed an Additional Protocol to the safeguards agreement between the Agency and the UAE Government, establishing a procedure for stringent inspections of nuclear facilities and operations, and further strengthening the nation's commitment to non-proliferation as it evaluates a potential civil nuclear energy program.

ABU DHABI, UAE (19 February 2009) - An entry permit has been issued to permit the tennis player Andy Ram to take part in next week's tennis tournament in Dubai, the Director of the Consular Affairs Department of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sultan Al Qertasi, said today in a statement issued to the Emirates News Agency, WAM.

"The relevant Government department has issued a special entry permit to allow the tennis player Mr. Andy Ram to enter the country to take part in next week's international tennis tournament being held in Dubai," the statement said.

WASHINGTON, DC (15 January 2009) – His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice today signed a bilateral agreement for peaceful nuclear cooperation that enhances international standards of nuclear non-proliferation, safety and security.

Known as a “123 Agreement,” after Section 123 of the US Atomic Energy Act, the new pact establishes a required legal framework for commerce in civilian nuclear energy between the two countries.

ABU DHABI, UAE (26 April 2008) – The Ministry of Labor has released detailed labor report 2007 to highlight respect for labor rights and meet challenges being posed by the economic boom and demographic structure changes.

As a member of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Arab Labour Organisation, and other labor-focused multilateral organizations, the UAE deals transparently and objectively with all its international labor obligations and view reasoned and rational internal and external criticism as constructive and helpful.

MANAMA, BAHRAIN (21 April 2008) – UAE Foreign Minister, His Highness Sheikh Abdulla bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in peaceful uses of nuclear energy on April 21, 2008 in Bahrain.
