Statement by UAE Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba Regarding the Death of Osama bin Laden

WASHINGTON, DC (2 May 2011) – United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United States Yousef Al Otaiba today issued the following statement regarding the death of Osama bin Laden:

“The world is a safer place without Osama bin Laden.  This forceful blow against extremism and terrorism is a significant step for all of those committed to peace and tolerance. 

Sadly, too many people already have felt the pain and horror of terrorism.  And unfortunately the threat is still with us.  We must not lower our guard or ease the intensity of our combined efforts against extremism wherever it exists. 

We applaud the men and women of the intelligence community and military for their relentless commitment and substantial sacrifice.   They are the frontline against the dangerous forces of terror and extremism.”
