UAE leaders meet with US Special Envoy to the Middle East for Peace

ABU DHABI, UAE (24 July 2009) - His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, met with George Mitchell, United States Special Envoy to the Middle East, to discuss ongoing efforts to secure peace in the region and other matters of mutual interest.  Special Envoy Mitchell is visiting the region as part of the US’ effort to forge Palestinian-Israeli peace.

During the lunch meeting, also attended by UAE Ambassador to the United States HE Yousef Al Otaiba, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed stressed the need for a serious push on the regional and international levels to activate both the Palestinian and Israeli sides to engage in peace negotiations.
