The UAE Embassy in Washington, DC has teamed up with the Manchester City Football Club to provide deserving kids access to high quality soccer fields and game instruction across the United States. The Manchester City Football Club is owned by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan – a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family. Both the UAE Embassy and Manchester City believe that the game of soccer teaches valuable lessons such as teamwork, cooperation, and dedication that are beneficial for a lifetime.
A beautiful new field ready to be enjoyed by hundreds of children
The UAE Embassy identifies communities of children without access to soccer fields and works with community organizations such as local Boys and Girls Clubs to turn unused space and into high quality, long lasting soccer fields that can be utilized and enjoyed by children for years to come. Then, Manchester City’s award winning and complimentary coaching and education program is made available to these communities so that the kids can learn to appreciate the game of soccer, and have fun too.
Children in Miami playing in the first scrimmage on the new field
Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba is a big soccer fan, having played the game since a child, and is committed to expressing his country's support of the USA through the sport he loves. Since 2010, soccer fields have been installed in Spanish Harlem, East Los Angeles, and Miami. The Embassy is looking forward to beginning the installation of new fields in more communities throughout the United States and continuing its relationship with the Manchester City Football Club.
