Tallest Building in the World Reflects Dubai Vision

January 13, 2009

The Burj Khalifa, the tallest man-made structure ever built, opened to the public on January 4th, 2010.  The super-skyscraper aspires to be an icon of the new Middle East: prosperous, dynamic and successful.

With a final height of more than 2,600 feet, the Burj Khalifa houses corporate offices, residential suites, four luxury pools, restaurants and other amenities. Now completed, the tip of the Burj Khalifa's spire can be seen by a person 60 miles away. Its observation deck—located 442 meters, or 1,450 feet, above ground—is the highest publicly accessible observation deck in the world.

The concrete used for the Burj Khalifa is equivalent to a sidewalk that is 1,200 miles long, the distance between Washington, DC and Orlando, FL.

The Burj Khalifa is developed by Emaar Properties PJSC, one of the world's largest real estate companies. The Burj Khalifa was designed by Chicago-based Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
