Travel Document

Renewal of the passport
The Consular section accepts passport renewal applications for UAE Nationals who reside in the United States of America.
Steps for Passport renewal
First Step: Submit the application on the website of the Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security through the following link:
Second Step: Please note that the passport is renewed from within the UAE, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will send it to the consular office.
Third Step: The consular office will then receive the new passport for pick up.
Passport renewal requirements:
Submit the application through the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the following link: icp.gov.ae
- A copy of the old passport.
- Personal photo.
- Attach proof of the reason for the UAE national’s presence outside the country.

Power of Attorney
Requirements for certification of agencies (public or private):
- The original power of attorney (the power of attorney text must be typed in Arabic; any handwritten power of attorney will not be authenticated)
- A copy of the applicant’s and attorney’s passports (insuring that the signature of the applicant on the document matches the applicant’s signature in his/her passport)
- A fee of 40.84 dollars paid to the embassy for each agency - payment can be made through the following website: https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/ar-ae/Services/attestation.
- Notarization by two (2) notary witnesses confirming the authenticity of the client’s signature, stating their full names, and signatures. This should be accompanied by a copy of the witnesses’ passports, ensuring that the applicant’s signature on the document matches the signature in his/her passport) or an American Notary Public’s ratification of the authenticity of the client’s signature.
- An official letter from issuer of the power of attorney; however, in case you are in the United States, without any affiliation to an embassy office or scholarship agency, please fill out the following application.
Requirements for the authentication of educational certificates (medical or scholastic)
- The original certificate with a photocopy of a valid passport.
- A letter from the attaché’s office with which the citizen is associated (cultural, military, etc.) affirming the authenticity of the certificate and the request for its authentication.

Medical Attestation and to whom it may concern letters
Requirements for attestation of certificates (medical - to whom it may concern):
- The original certificate and a copy of your passport
- An official letter from the institution that has granted the UAE National a scholarship to confirm the validity of the certificate and request its authentication. If you are in the United States of America without being linked to any state attaché, please fill out the following application.
- A fee of 40.84 dollars paid to the embassy for each certificate, which can be accessed through the following website: https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/ar-ae/Services/attestation.

Requirements for Certification of Educational Certificates for all Educational Levels:
- All Educational documents must to be attested by The Office of Authentication of the US State Dept. prior to sending them to the UAE Embassy.
- The educational institution must be located in the U.S . For University degrees only, It must be regionally accredited by NEASC (CIHE), MSA (CHE), NCA (HLC), SACS (COC), NWCCU, or WASC (ACCJC-ACSCU).
- To show proof of regional accreditation, please visit the Council for Higher Education Accreditation website https://www.chea.org
