Services provided by the Consular for UAE Nationals

Emergency Passport

The Consular issues emergency passports to UAE Nationals who reside in the United States, in the following Circumstances:

  • Newborns.
  • Expired passport.
  • Loss of Passport.
  • Damaged passport.

 

Steps to obtain an emergency passport

First step: Apply on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation through the following link:

Requirements for obtaining an emergency passport for newborns:

  1. Fill out an emergency passport application here.
  2. A copy of each parent’s passport.
  3. A copy of the family’s complete registry record.
  4. Marriage certificate/contract which must be ratified through the US State Department, and then the country's missions abroad if the wife is not Included in the family civil registry record.  
  5. A copy of the father's identity card.
  6. Two recent photographs of the newborn (photo size - 2 x 2 inches, 51 x 51 mm).
  7. Birth certificate attested by the US Department of State.
  8. A fee of 40.84 dollars paid to the embassy to authenticate the birth certificate, which can be paid via the following website: https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/ar-ae/Services/attestation.
  9. A letter requesting the emergency passport with the date of travel, home address, and contact information in the UAE. If the applicant is in the United States without any consular affiliation, please fill out the following application.

 

Requirements for obtaining an emergency passport (in the event of passport expiry)

  1. Fill out an emergency passport application here.
  2. A copy of the lost passport and identity card.
  3. A copy of the family civil registry record. 
  4. Two recent personal photos (photo size - 2 x 2 inches, 51 x 51 mm).
  5. A letter requesting the emergency passport. Please provide the date of travel, full residential address, and contact numbers in the UAE by filling out the application for travel document to return home. If the applicant is in the United States without any consular affiliation, please fill out the following application.

 

Requirements for obtaining an emergency passport (in the event of loss of passport)

  1. Fill out an emergency passport application here
  2. A copy of the lost passport and identity card.
  3. A copy of the family civil registry record.  
  4. Two recent personal photos (photo size - 2 x 2 inches, 51 x 51 mm).
  5. The original police report indicating the loss of the passport.
  6. A fee of $40.84 paid to the embassy to certify the validity of the police report; payment can be made through the following website: https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/ar-ae/Services/attestation
  7. A letter requesting the emergency passport. Please provide the date of travel, full residential address, and contact numbers in the UAE. If the applicant is in the United States without any consular affiliation, please fill out the following application   

 

Requirements for obtaining an emergency passport (in the event of damage to the passport)

  1. Fill out an emergency passport application here
  2. A copy of the damaged passport and identity card.
  3. A copy of the family civil registry.
  4. Two recent personal photos (photo size - 2 x 2 inches, 51 x 51 mm).
  5. The damaged passport itself.
  6. A letter requesting the emergency passport. Please provide the date of travel, full residential address, and contact numbers in the UAE. If the applicant is in the United States without any consular affiliation, please fill out the following application

Notes:

  1. The Consular section issues an emergency passport that is valid for 6 months and can only be used once to return to the country (UAE).
  2. Please enclose a paid postal envelope so that we can send the emergency passport to your address in the United States of America.

Renewal of the passport

The Consular section accepts passport renewal applications for UAE Nationals who reside in the United States of America.

 

Steps for Passport renewal

 

First Step: Submit the application on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation through the following link: https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/ar-AE/Services/Passport-Renewal-for-UAE-Nationals-Abroad.

Second Step: Please note that the passport is renewed from within the UAE, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will send it to the consular office.

Third Step: The consular office will then receive the new passport for pick up.

 

Passport renewal requirements:

  1. Submit the application through the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the following link: https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/ar-AE/Services/Passport-Renewal-for-UAE-Nationals-Abroad.
  2. A copy of the old passport.
  3. Personal photo.
  4. Attach proof of the reason for the UAE national’s presence outside the country.
  5. Service fee of $ 17 (the fee will be paid in cash upon receipt of the new passport).

 

Notes:

  1. The old passport must be sent and the service fee of $17 will be paid in cash upon receipt of the new passport from the Consular Section.
  2. Please enclose a paid envelope so that we can send the passport to your address in the United States of America.

Power of Attorney

Requirements for certification of agencies (public or private):

  1. The original power of attorney (the power of attorney text must be typed in Arabic; any handwritten power of attorney will not be authenticated)
  2. A copy of the applicant’s and attorney’s passports (insuring that the signature of the applicant on the document matches the applicant’s signature in his/her passport)
  3. A fee of 40.84 dollars paid to the embassy for each agency - payment can be made through the following website: https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/ar-ae/Services/attestation.
  4. Notarization by two (2) notary witnesses confirming the authenticity of the client’s signature, stating their full names, and signatures. This should be accompanied by a copy of the witnesses’ passports, ensuring that the applicant’s signature on the document matches the signature in his/her passport) or an American Notary Public’s ratification of the authenticity of the client’s signature.
  5. An official letter from issuer of the power of attorney; however, in case you are in the United States, without any affiliation to an embassy office or scholarship agency, please fill out the following application.

 

Requirements for the authentication of educational certificates (medical or scholastic)

  1. The original certificate with a photocopy of a valid passport.
  2. A letter from the attaché’s office with which the citizen is associated (cultural, military, etc.) affirming the authenticity of the certificate and the request for its authentication.
  3. A fee of 40.84 dollars paid to the embassy for each certificate, which can be accessed through the following website: https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/ar-ae/Services/attestation.

Medical Attestation and to whom it may concern letters

Requirements for attestation of certificates (medical - to whom it may concern):

  1. The original certificate and a copy of your passport
  2. An official letter from the institution that has granted the UAE National a scholarship to confirm the validity of the certificate and request its authentication. If you are in the United States of America without being linked to any state attaché, please fill out the following application.
  3. A fee of 40.84 dollars paid to the embassy for each certificate, which can be accessed through the following website: https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/ar-ae/Services/attestation.

Requirements for Certification of Educational Certificates for all Educational Levels:

 

  1. All Educational documents must to be attested by The Office of Authentication of the US State Dept. prior to sending them to the UAE Embassy.
  2. The educational institution must be located in the U.S . For University degrees only, It must be regionally accredited by NEASC (CIHE), MSA (CHE), NCA (HLC), SACS (COC), NWCCU, or WASC (ACCJC-ACSCU).
  3. To show proof of regional accreditation, please visit the Council for Higher Education Accreditation website https://www.chea.org
  4. A fee of 40.84 dollars paid to the embassy for each certificate. Payment can be made via the following website: https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/ar-ae/Services/attestation.
