COP28 Director-General Ambassador Majid Al Suwaidi Meeting with Deputy Assistant to the President Amos Hochstein

COP28 Director-General Ambassador Majid Al Suwaidi and Deputy Assistant to the President for Energy and Investment Amos Hochstein met in Washington Friday, July 21 to discuss ongoing cooperation between the UAE and US on climate action, including to facilitate an ambitious and successful COP28. Following COP28 President-Designate Dr. Sultan Al Jaber’s remarks in Brussels last week, Ambassador Al Suwaidi briefed DAP Hochstein on the UAE’s updated agenda for the climate summit, to be held in Dubai later this year. The two officials emphasized the need to speed the energy transition and discussed opportunities for collaboration to decrease emissions and expand renewable energy. Under the Partnership for Accelerating Clean Energy, the UAE and US will catalyze $100 billion in financing, investment and other support to deploy 100 new gigawatts of clean energy by 2035.
