H.E. Omran Sharaf meets US officials to strengthen relations in science, technology, and space

Washington, DC (March 18, 2024) - His Excellency Omran Sharaf, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Advanced Science and Technology, led a UAE delegation for meetings with high-level US government officials in Washington DC, to discuss reinforcing and enhancing bilateral collaboration in the fields of science, technology and space.

During his meetings, H.E. underlined areas of cooperation in Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technologies that will support economic growth and advance shared interests.

H.E. Sharaf briefed officials at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy on the UAE’s continuous efforts to diversify its economy and become a global hub for vital technologies of the future. H.E. also participated in a briefing session with senior representatives from the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre and NASA that highlighted the UAE’s participation in “Gateway,” humanity’s first lunar space station.

H.E. Omran Sharaf stated: "Discussions with US officials affirmed our shared commitment to fostering innovation and addressing challenges through science and technology. The US is one of the most prominent and strategic allies of the UAE, and our country looks forward to continuing close collaboration on issues of mutual interest. Together, we are building a prosperous future for our two nations and the global community."

H.E. also met with his counterparts at the US State Department, Department of Commerce and the National Space Council, where he discussed bilateral strategies for space policy and exploration.
