United Arab Emirates Embassy in Washington, DC Statement on Letters of Agreement for UAE Defense Package

January 21, 2021 – On Tuesday, the United Arab Emirates finalized letters of agreement (LOAs) with the US Government for the acquisition of F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft and other defense equipment, as previously announced. The LOAs confirm the terms of the UAE purchase, including costs, technical specifications and anticipated delivery schedules.

Signing of an Enhanced Consular Privileges and Immunities Agreement with the United States

The United Arab Emirates and the United States signed an Enhanced Consular Privileges and Immunities Agreement that will provide enhanced protections to Emirati and American consular staff in both countries. The agreement will enable consular staff to better protect the interests of citizens abroad. As an important strategic partner of the US, the UAE remains committed to maintaining stability in the Gulf, creating economic prosperity for both countries and increasing cultural understanding between our citizens.
